 Miller was born in Los Angeles, California, to her father Craig Miller. Miller has many siblings. [3] Her ancestry also comprises English, Irish and Scottish. Miller was born in Palmdale, Los Angeles County. Miller is well-known for her dark brown hair color and solid bone structure. Miller is known for her European-looking appearance. Paul Marciano, founder of Guess, claimed that Alyssa was the most European-looking American woman he's ever met. When she had her breakthrough with Guess and was noticed for her looks, she was compared with Sophia Loren and Brooke Shields and was seen as a bit like a throwback. In 2003, her father sent test photos to the Los Angeles office of IMG Models. She was a rising model for the Marilyn NY agency by 2005. [9] She modeled an autumn campaign in 2005 for Stella McCartney at the age of 16. She was 16 when she did a 2005 autumn campaign for Stella Mccartney. She was featured on the cover of the October 2006 edition of German Vogue as well as the July 2010 issue of Italian Elle. Later, she was on the October 2012 cover. In the latter part of 2010, she was among the latest models at Guess clothing. Sixteen Miller also worked on behalf of Victoria's Secret. [citation needed] Miller has also worked for Victoria's Secret, Chopard and Diesel. She was signed by Elite Model Management in 2011. She was the first model to make her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue debut in 2011, when she was among five rookies (along with Shannan Click, Kenza Fourati, Izabel Goulart as well as the fellow Guess model Kate Upton) in the issue. According to The Wall Street Journal, she was hoping to be featured in Sports Illustrated for soccer because of her athletic background. Joanne Gair had her body painted and Stewart Shining took photos of her in New York City in the Swimsuit Issue 2011. 2013 was her third Swimsuit Issue. In both 2011 and 2013, Miller participated in the annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition of David Letterman's Top 10 on the Late Show with David Letterman on the night when the Swimsuit Cover Model for the issue was announced.
