Bearse trained in acting under Sanford Meisner at New York City's Neighborhood Playhouse. She was in a variety of independent and B-movies throughout and following this period which included Protocol (1984), Fright Night (19both 1985) as well as Fraternity Vacation (19both 1985). In 1987 she was cast in the character of Marcy Rhoades (later Marcy Daly) on the hit sitcom on Fox, Married... with Children. The show ran until 1997. Bearse was in the movies Here Come the Munsters and The Doom Generation in the mid-1990s. Bearse began directing television when she was in Married...with Children. She was the director of 31 episodes between 1991 and 1997. She was the director of episodes from Reba, Mad TV, Nick Freno, Malcolm & Eddie, Pauly, The Tom Show, The Jamie Foxx Show, Dharma & Greg, The Veronica's Closet, Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, Jesse (1999) with the Married...with Children co-star Christina Applegate), Jessie (2011), and Ladies Man. She also directed The Sperm Donor in 2005 which was a pilot on NBC with Maggie Wheeler. Bearse as well as Rosie O'Donnell teamed up to create The Big Gay Sketch Show in the year 2006. The show premiered on Logo on April 24 in 2007.
