Jewel (singer)

 Jewel was born in Alaska close to Homer. She was a child of the dance and singing with her father, who was a musician in the area. When she was 15 years old, when she was awarded a part-time award to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy, Michigan. She studied operatic voice. She began to perform in coffeehouses and clubs in San Diego after she graduated from high school. The local media and was offered an album deal with Atlantic Records. Pieces of You was her debut album. It would go on to become one of the most popular debut albums ever and was certified platinum 12 times. "Who Will Save Your Soul" was her debut single, reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Two other singles, "You Were Meant For Me" and "Foolish Games" also reached the top two on the Billboard Hot 100. They were included on the Billboard chart of singles for the year 1998. This Way (2001) was her follow-up album. The album was released in 2003. The album marked an departure from her previous folk-oriented albums and featured electronic arrangements as well as elements that were dance-oriented. Perfectly Clear was her first country album. It was released on the top of the Billboard's Top Country Albums charts in the year 2008. The album contained three songs: "Stronger Woman", I Do, and "Til it's like cheating". In 2009, Jewel released Lullaby, her first album released on her own.
