Julie Newmar (born Julia Chalene Newmeyer 16 August 1933) is an American actress, dancer and singer who is known for a variety of stage, screen, and television roles. She is also an author, lingerie designer and real-estate mogul. In recognition of her performance as Katrin Sveg, she was awarded the Tony Award as Best Featured actress in a Play. She reprised her part in The Marriage-Go-Round in 1961. In the 1960s, she appeared in two seasons of Catwoman in the TV series Batman (1966-1967). Her other stage credits include the Ziegfeld Follies in 1956, Lola in Damn Yankees! in 1961 and Irma in Irma la Douce in 1965 in regional productionsNewmar appeared in the music video of George Michael's 1992 single "Too Funky" and made a cameo appearance as herself in the film of 1995 To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. Her voice-over work is featured in the animated feature films Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (2016) and Batman vs. Two-Face (2017), where she reprised her character in the role of Catwoman 50 years later than the original TV series.
