Kate Garry Hudson, born on April 19, 1979, is an American actress. Her honors include the Golden Globe Award as well as a Critics' Choice Movie Award as well as a Satellite Award. She has been nominated for Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Screen Actors Guild Awards and has been nominated for the Academy Award. Hudson's film debut was in the 1998 thriller Desert Blue. She then was in parts in supporting roles in 200 Cigarettes (1999), Dr. T & the Women (both 2000) and Gossip (2nd 2000). Hudson gained international recognition in the role of Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous (2000), in which she was awarded an award of a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress and an Oscar nomination in the same category. In the 2000s, Hudson starred in a series of romantic comedies, which included Alex & Emma, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (both 2002), You, Me and Dupree (2006), Fool's Gold, My Best Friend's Girl (2008), and Bride Wars (2009). Other credits in her filmography include The Four Feathers (2002), Raising Helen (2004), The Skeleton Key (2005), Nine (both 2009), The Killer Inside Me (2010), Something Borrowed (2011), The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2013), Rock the Kasbah (2015), Deepwater Horizon, Mother's Day (both 2016), Marshall (2017) and Music (2021). She was the recurring character of Cassandra July in the hit TV show Glee (2012-13).
