Robert James Ritchie, born 17 January 1971, is an American musician, rapper and singer. His music is a blend of hip-hop, country, and rock. The musician is self-taught, and says he plays every instrument in the band he is backing. The album he released as his debut Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast (1990), was released on Jive Records. He developed his own distinct style through his subsequent solo albums: The Polyfuze Method (1993), and Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp(1996). The album, Devil Without a Cause (1998) sold 14 million copies. Cocky (2001) was his album that followed, was known for blending elements of hip hop, country and rock. "Cowboy" is the most popular of his songs, came out in 1999. It is believed to be the most important song in the field of country hip-hop. The top selling singles include "Picture", (2002) and "All Summer Long," (2008). His music output, beginning with Rock n Roll Jesus in 2007 has been geared towards country and rock.
