Scarlett Ingrid Johansson (/dZoU'haens@n/ born November 22 1984) is an American actress. She was the highest-paid actress in 2018, and 2019 worldwide. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people in the world in 2021. Her films have earned more than $14.3 billion worldwide which makes Johansson the top-grossing box office star of all time. She has been awarded numerous awards such as a Tony Award and a British Academy Film Award as well as addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and five Golden Globe Awards.Born to an American father and a Danish father and an American mother, Johansson aspired to be an actress at a young age. She first appeared on the stage in an off-Broadway show as an actress in her early years. Her debut film was North (1994) which was a fantasy comedy. The actress gained recognition early for her performances in Manny & Lo 1996, The Horse Whisperer 1998, and Ghost World 2001. Johansson changed roles to adult roles in 2003 with her performance in Lost in Translation, which won her a BAFTA Award for Best Actress as well as Girl with a Pearl Earring. Johansson was nominated for Golden Globe Awards for these films, as well as for her role as an unruly teenager in the drama A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004) and as a seductress in psychological thriller Match Point (2005). It was her first film with Woody Allen, who later directed her in Scoop (2006) and Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008). Johansson also produced works in this period, such as The Prestige (2006), the album Anywhere I Lay My Head (2008) and Break Up (2009, which were both included on the Billboard 200). In the year 2010, Johansson made her Broadway debut in A View from the Bridge. She was awarded a Tony Award as Best Featured Actress. Johansson then began playing Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Iron Man 2. Johansson reprised the role for eight films, including her own film Black Widow (2021), where she gained global recognition for her performance. In this time, Johansson starred in the science fiction films Her (2013), Under the Skin (2013) and Lucy (2014). She earned two concurrent Academy Award nominations--Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for the respective roles of an actress who is going through divorce in the drama Marriage Story (2019) and an unmarried mother in Nazi Germany in the satire Jojo Rabbit (2019), being among the few actors to achieve this feat.Labeled as a sexual symbol, Johansson has been referred to as one of the most beautiful women by numerous media publications. She is well-known as a brand endorser and is a major supporter of many charitable causes. Johansson, who was divorced from Romain Dauriac (actor) and Colin Jost (comedian), has been engaged to him since. She has two children with one of them Dauriac and another with Jost.
