 Shakira Isabel Mebarak Rill (/S@’kI@r@Shakira Isabel Mebarak Rill (/sh@–KEER-@ Spanish: [(t).Sa’kira]; was born on February 2nd, 1977) is a Colombian singer from Colombia. She was born and was raised in Barranquilla. She is renowned for her versatility in music and is often referred to as the "Queen of Latin Music". When she was 13, she recorded her first album with Sony Music Colombia. Following the loss of her first two albums Magia (1991), as well as Peligro (1993) Her recording debut came with Sony Music Colombia when she was 13. (1998). The fifth album she released, Laundry Service (2001) was her first foray into the market for English-language music. The album sold over 13 million copies across the globe. The worldwide popularity of her singles, "Whenever, Wherever" and "Underneath Your Clothes", made her a household name as a top cross-over artist. Broadcast Music, Inc. declared Shakira as a "pioneer" who expanded the reach of Latino artists from all over the globe. The Spanish album Fijacion Oral, Vol. El Dorado (2017), Sale el Sol (2010) and 1 (2005) all of which topped the Billboard Top Latin Albums charts and were certified as diamonds (Latin by the Recording Industry Association of America. Shakira's English albums Oral Fixation Vol. 2. (2005), She Wolf 2009, as well as Shakira (2014) have all been certified platinum, gold, or multi-platinum in various countries. Certain of her songs were ranked top in several countries, including "La Tortura", She Wolf (2009), "Beautiful Liar" as well as "Waka Waka [This Time for Africa2 (2005), She Wolf (2009) and Shakira (2014)" and "Chantaje" as well as "Hips Don't Lie". She was a coach on two seasons on The Voice, an American singing competition on TV (2013-2014).
