Tulsi Gabbard

 ulsi Gabbard, /'tlsi'gaeb@rdborn on April 12, 1981. She is an American politician and United States Army Reserve officer. Gabbard was the first Hindu member of Congress and was also the first voting Samoan-American member of Congress. Gabbard ran for president for the 2020 United States Presidential Election. [2][3] She then left the Republican Party and became an independent in October 2022. Gabbard at the age of 21 was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 2002. 4. Gabbard served in a medical field unit of the Hawaii Army National Guard while stationed in Iraq from 2004 to 2005. She was also stationed in Kuwait between 2008 and 2009, as an Army Military Police platoon leader. Gabbard was a member in Congress and served as vice-chairperson of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) between 2013 and the year 2016. She resigned in order to help Bernie Sanders' 2016 Democratic presidential campaign.
