Virginia Gayle Madsen (born September 11th, 1961)[1] is an American actress and film producer. Her film debut was in Class (1983) in a film that was filmed in her native Chicago. David Lynch, the director of science fiction film Dune (1984) has made her the Princess Irulan after she moved to Los Angeles. Madsen was a star in a number of successful teen movies such as Electric Dreams (1984), Modern Girls ( 1986) and Fire with Fire (1986). Madsen was also recognized for her role in Helen Lyle, the main character in the horror film Candyman (1992). Madsen received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Alexander Payne’s comedy-drama Sideways (2004).
