Kelsey Christine Plum (born August 24, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the Las Vegas Aces of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was the winner of the WNBA championship in 2022, which was the first All-WNBA First Team selection and was named the WNBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player (MVP) in her first WNBA All-Star Game. She won the gold medal for women's 3-on-3 basketball during the 2020 Summer Olympics. She attended La Jolla Country Day School in San Diego. Plum was a college student and played basketball at the University of Washington. On February 25, 2017, Plum scored a career-high 57 points on the night of her senior year - taking 19 of the 28 shots she attempted in breaking the NCAA Division I women's basketball all-time scoring record by scoring 3,397 points. Plum broke the NCAA record of 1,080 points in one season on March 20th in 2017. [3] The University of Washington's initial overall selection in the 2017 WNBA Draft by San Antonio Stars. She was named the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year Plum is the daughter of Katie and Jim Plum.Her mother was a successful volleyball player at the University of California, Davis. Her father earned All-American distinction while playing high school football in La Mesa, California, and went to play baseball and football on a collegiate level at San Diego State. Plum is the elder of two sisters. She also has an older brother. Both sisters played volleyball and followed in the footsteps of their moms. Kaitlyn, her oldest sister, played at UC Davis. Lauren was a junior national team member with USA Volleyball. The younger brother Daniel played football for UC Davis. Kelsey was a volleyball player in the beginning and was a star in the USA Volleyball junior program. However, when it was time to go to her high school years, Plum chose La Jolla Country Day School instead of Poway High School. She also played basketball and scored an average of 19.9 points per game. Plum scored 677 rebounds and assisted on 381 baskets. She also had 337 steals. Her team's record was 103-22 over her four years. The result was four section titles, and the CIF Division IV state title. Plum also played as an AAU basketball player for San Diego Sol. Plum was named as a member of the 2013 WBCA High school Coaches' All American Team. Plum was a participant in the 2013 WBCA High School All-America Game. She made seven of eight field goals, scoring 14 points. This qualified her to participate in the 2013 McDonald's All-American Girls Game She was awarded the title of Ms. Basketball by CalHiSports, an honor bestowed upon the best female basketball player in California. Prior winners have included Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, Courtney Paris, Candice Wiggins, and Diana Taurasi.
