Leonid Taranenko

 Taranenko was a student at VSS Uradzhai in Minsk. He was a student at VSS Uradzhai in Minsk. He set the record for the cleanest and most complete lifting in Canberra, Australia, on November 26 the 26th of November, 1988. The total weight of 476 kilograms was the largest was ever lifted by him and beat the previous record set by Lasha Talakhadze from Georgia who was competing in the 2019 World Weightlifting Championships. Hossein Rezazadeh's record for the 2004 Summer Olympics record of 263.5 kg was broken by Taranenko who was a member of the Unified Team at Barcelona's 1992 Olympics. He was awarded the silver medal in the super heavyweight class with a total of 425 kg.Taranenko's other victories include the 110kg class championships in the 1980 World and European championships, as well as the super-heavyweight titles at the 1990 World championship and 1988, 1991, and 1996 European championships.
