Ally Sheedy

 Alexandra Elizabeth Sheedy, a New York City native, was born on June 13th 1962. She has two siblings: brother Patrick and sister Meghan. Her mother, Charlotte Baum (nee Sheedy), is a journalist and press representative. She was active in women's rights and civil liberties movements. Her father John J. Sheedy Jr. is a Manhattan advertising executive. Sheedy's mother is Eastern European Jewish, whereas her father comes from an Irish Catholic background. Her maternal grandmother hails from Odessa in Ukraine. Sheedy's parents divorced in 1971. She was a student at the Bank Street School for Children and Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School in New York City. She was a graduate in 1980. She began dancing with the American Ballet Theatre at age six[9] and was planning to make it her full-time occupation. However, she decided to stop dancing to pursue acting full-time and began her studies in acting under Harold Guskin. At age 12 she wrote her first book, She Was Nice to Mice. The book was published by McGraw-Hill Education and became a best-seller. LinkShe made her first appearance on the game show To Tell the Truth, on the 19th of June, 1975. Sheedy moved to Los Angeles at age 18 and enrolled in acting classes at the University of Southern California. Sheedy concurrently began her acting career, and also completed three years' worth of studies towards the BFA degree in acting.
