David Walter Foster OC OBC (born November 1 1949) is a Canadian musician as a arranger, composer and record producer. He is also a music executive who was the chair of Verve Records from 2012 to the year 2016. He has received 16 Grammy Awards from 47 nominations. His time in the music industry has stretched over five decades, mainly beginning as a keyboardist for the pop group Skylark, in the early 1970s.Foster was the keyboardist in the pop group Skylark who was found by Eirik Wangberg. In 1973, the band's hit song "Wildflower" was a hit and climbed the top ten. Foster, Jay Graydon and Foster formed Airplay after the band broke up. In 1975, Foster played on George Harrison's album Extra Texture. Foster followed up in 1975 by playing the Fender Rhodes, clavinet and clavinet in Harrison's album Thirty Three and 1/3. Foster was part of Guthrie Thomas' second Capitol Records album Lies and Alibis in 1976. He also performed with Ringo Starr and other musicians. Foster was an important contributor to the 1979 Earth, Wind and Fire album I Am. He was also a studio player and arranger. Foster was also a co-writer of six tracks on the album. The most notable being "After the Love Has Died" The track was written by Foster and Graydon together with Bill Champlin, won the 1980 Grammy Award.
