Lennox Lewis

Lennox Claudius Lewis CBE CM CBE was born on 2 September, 1965. He was an ex-professional boxer and boxing announcer. Lewis is the undisputed champion of heavyweight boxing, having been named three times the world champion, and twice a lineal champion. He holds dual Canadian as well as British citizenship, Lewis was an amateur representative for Canada in both the 1984 and 1988 Olympics. He was awarded the gold medal in the super-heavyweight division after defeating Riddick bowe in the final. Lewis also won numerous regional titles for heavyweights during the first three years of his career as a professional. He won his first 21 fights, and managed to beat Donovan Ruddock in 1992, becoming the first position on the WBC rankings. In the following year, the champion was named WBC heavyweight champion following Riddick had to quit the title to not defend the title against Lewis. After winning the title three times, he fell to Oliver McCall in a knockout in 1994. Lewis took back the vacant WBC heavyweight title in 1997 when he faced Evander Holyfield twice. The second bout was an unpopular draw. Lewis became the undisputed heavyweight champion after combining Holyfield's WBA, IBF and WBC titles, as in addition to the vacant IBO title. The WBA removed Lewis of their title in the year 2000 after Lewis decided to take on Michael Grant rather than John Ruiz as a mandatory challenger. The IBF also removed Lewis of his title when Chris Byrd, their mandatory opponent, decided not to take on him in 2002.
