Lynda Carter

 Carter was the daughter of Juanita Cordova and Colby Carter. She was born in Phoenix. Her father is of English and Scots Irish family and her mother is Mexican and Spanish. Her siblings are Vincent her brother and Pamela, her sister. Carter was just 5 years old when she made her public TV debut on Lew Kings Talent Show. During high school, Carter performed in a band called Just Us. The group played a marimba and a conga drum. They also played an acoustic guitar and the stand-up bass which was played by a different band member. Lynda began singing at a local pizza joint when she was just 15. She joined her family members, The Relatives, when she was 16. Actor Gary Burghoff was the drummer for the group. The group was first introduced in the Sahara Hotel and Casino lounge in Las Vegas for three months as Carter was under 21 she was required to go through the kitchen.Carter was a student at Arizona State University. She was named "Most Talented" and then decided to get into music. In 1970, Carter auditioned and then sang in a tour together with The Garfin Gathering and bandleader Howard (Speedy) Garfin. Their first performance with each other was held at the Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel so new that it didn't have a sidewalk entrance. Consequently, they played mostly for hotel employees as well as guests who had their cars parked in the underground garage. 9 The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit" and performed shows in the casinos across the state, including Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter made the decision to leave the Garfin Gathering in 1972 to pursue acting and she went back to Arizona.
