Earvin "Magic" Johnson Jr., an ex- American professional basketball player was born August 14, 1959. Johnson is widely considered to be the best point guard ever has played for 13 years in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Johnson was a champion in high schools and colleges, and was then selected by the Los Angeles Lakers first in the 1979 NBA draft. Johnson was the team's leader in five NBA championships during the Showtime era. Johnson abruptly resigned in 1991, after declaring that he was infected with HIV. However, Johnson was able to return to the 1992 All-Star Game and won the All-Star MVP Award. After being protested by teammates, Johnson resigned abruptly in 1991. He returned to the Lakers at the age of 36 and won the All-Star MVP Award. Johnson led the league in assists during the regular season four more times. Johnson is also the NBA's most successful player in average assists per match during regular season as well as playoffs (11.19 assists per game) and he holds the record for the most assists of his career during the playoffs. 8.
