The People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson was a criminal case brought in Los Angeles County Superior Court that began in 1994. O. J. Simpson (a former football player, broadcaster, actor and NFL broadcaster) was tried and cleared of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. In the evening of June 12th on the 12th of June, 1994, the couple were brutally attacked and stabbed in front of Brown's Brentwood residence. The trial ran for eleven months, from November 9 1994.Opening statements were made on January 24, 1995. [2] Simpson was found not guilty of murder charge despite the numerous evidences, including DNA evidence, which was relatively new. The opening statements were given on January 24 on January 24, 1995. The trial occurred shortly following the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The defense used the anger of the African-American community against the LAPD's history of racial bias to persuade the majority-Black jury to release Simpson. The trial is often characterized as the trial of the century because of its global media attention and has been called the "most publicized" criminal trial in human history.
