London is the home of the most expensive house in the world which was the property of Queen Elizabeth II! A larger-than-life home, and in this instance a palace, can cost upwards of $1 billion. It's either ironic or being stranger than fiction, but the second most expensive property on the planet is in India and it belongs to Mukesh Ambani. The 27-storey Antilia located in Mumbai's Cumballa Hill, was built in the year 2010 at an estimated amount of $1-2 billion. Since the Buckingham Palace is Crown property and Ambani's Antilia is actually the highest-priced private residential home anywhere in the world. A few uber-rich buyers, like Brazilian-born philanthropist Lily Safra, purchase historic estates and renovate it to suit their tastes similar to building their own personal helipad. Others go further and build a new palace like the Villa Les Cedres in the French Riviera, which was built for King Benedict. We have compiled a list of the world's most expensive residences. Some are so big that they require their own pin code. Do you doubt us? Below are the top 10 most expensive homes in the world.
