Kyle Thomas Busch (born May 2 1985) is a American professional driver of stock cars as well as team owner. He currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. Richard Childress Racing 8 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and part-time in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driving the No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado for Kyle Busch Motorsports. KBM has multiple trucks operating in the Truck Series. Busch is the NASCAR Nationwide Series champion in 2009 as well as the Cup Series champion in 2015 and 2019. Busch was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. He began driving at six years old in a homemade go-kart. Busch was unable to reach the throttle, but was capable of learning the fundamentals from Tom his father who drove the car while Busch controlled the pedal. 6 Busch was employed in the garage of the family along alongside his father and younger brother Kurt as he grew older, becoming the chief of crew for his brother's team of dwarf cars when he was ten.Busch started his career as a driver in 1998, shortly after his 13th birthday; from 1999 to 2001, Busch won over 65 races in legends racing cars, and won two championships on track at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring short-track. He then moved to late models;[7] Busch scored ten victories in late model competition at the Bullring during the 2001 season. When he was 16, Busch began racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, driving the No. 99 Ford for Roush Racing in 2001, after Nathan Haseleu was released mid-season in 2001. He made his debut at Indianapolis Raceway,[8finishing 9th in his debut race in the series. In the second race at Chicago Motor Speedway, he was in the lead until his car ran out of fuel with just 12 laps ahead to go.Busch was among the fastest driver in practice for the 2001 Auto Club 200 at California Speedway in Fontana, CA, when the track informed him that he was not permitted to take part in the events on the track because the CART FedEx Championship Series, which was running on the track that same weekend, also had a race that was sponsored by Marlboro cigarettes Busch was decreed ineligible to race due to an interpretation of the Master Settlement Agreement of 1998 which prohibited people who were under 18 years old from participating in events sponsored by tobacco companies. Tim Woods III replaced Busch in the No. The 99 Ford placed 25th in the race. [15] When the minimum age requirement was put in place, Busch switched from NASCAR to the American Speed Association (ASA) National Tour, finishing 8th in points. In 2002, Busch graduated a year earlier, with high marks, from Durango High School in Las Vegas, Nevada to focus on his racing career. He also made his debut at Lowe's Motor Speedway's ARCA RE/MAX Series. He placed 12th in the No. 22 Chevrolet for WP Motorsports.
