Robert Lindsay-Watson was an Olympic and international union rugby player who was from Scotland. He was born in Melrose on the 4th of October 1886. According to the Southern Reporter, 23 July 1908, Lindsay-Watson could be St. Mary's representative at the Olympic Games in London. He was one of the Scottish athletes. He participated in the throw for men during the 1908 Summer Olympics. He joined the 10th Gordon Highlanders, and was a soldier during the First World War. The Edinburgh Evening News reported that several Borders Rugby players were either injured or killed on the 30th of September 1915. R. H. LINDSAY WATSON.Lieut. Robert H. Lindsay Watson of the 10th Gordon Highlanders is the son of T. Lindsay Watson (tweed manufacturer), Hawick. He was wounded while fighting in Flanders. He is an extremely well-known Rugby footballer.
