 Megan Jovon Ruth Pete (born February 15, 1995) is professionally known as Megan Thee Stallion (pronounced "Megan the Stallion "),[1][2] is a popular American rapper from the United States. She is originally from Houston, Texas. Her freestyle videos have become very popular on social media platforms like Instagram. Megan Thee Stallion signed to 300 Entertainment in 2018, which was the year she released her mixtape Fever (2019) and the extended play Suga (2020), both of which landed in the top ten spots of the Billboard 200.She released her debut studio album Good News (2020) to praise from the critics, and was featured on a variety of year-end top album lists. She was awarded her first and second number-one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 with the remix of her single "Savage" (featuring Beyonce) and also her performance on Cardi B's hit single "WAP" and the latter was her first top-ten single in a number of other countries, as well as the Billboard Global 200 chart. Doja Cat also appeared in Doja Cat's remix to Ariana Grande's single "34+35" in 2021. It reached the top spot at 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her next album was her debut compilation album called Something for Thee Hotties (2021), which reached the top ten on the Billboard 200, and spawned the single "Thot Shit", which reached the top twenty in the US and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance nomination in July 2020, Megan Thee Stallion was the victim of a shooting by rapper Tory Lanez in Hollywood Hills, California. Good News, her debut album, included the shooting as a major element. Lanez was convicted and tried in connection to her assault on Megan Thee Stallion in December 2022. In the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, she became the second female rapper to be awarded the award for Best New Artist, after Lauryn Hill in 1999. Time classified her among the 100 most influential people around the world in 2020. Outside of music, she has focused on her education. She graduated from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration in 2021.
