Kay, a fan of professional wrestling since childhood, began training alongside Mathew Pritchew and Bill Martel at Blue Collar Wrestling Alliance in Detroit, Michigan in July 2008. A little over a year later, she debuted against Shavonne Norrell on December 28. [2][6The pair of Kay and Norrell had a heated feud which lasted for the majority of 2009, which included the Falls Count Anywhere match at Summer Standoff in August 2009. Kay later began competing against male wrestlers. In the year 2010's finals, the BCWA National Championship was vacated, and Kay competed in the tournament to determine who would be the next champion. She reached the semi-finals where she was defeated by Scotty Primo, the eventual winner. Kay tried to take the title multiple times before the end of BCWA in mid-2011.
